In 1959 , the world is changed forever. Ruth Handler creates a toy inspired by her daughter Barbara's paper dolls- Barbie is born. Two years later, a counterpart to Barbie is made and named after the Handler's son- Ken. The first Ken had swim trunks that went with Barbie's swimsuit and his tagline was simply that he was a Doll and he was Barbie's Boyfriend. That's it! Ever since his conception, his sole purpose was to be an accessory to Barbie teehee! ♥

His hair was made of felt and it would fall off when he got wet. He was literally pathetic wet cat meow meow! In film, the first we see of Ken is in an advertisement, showing him off as Barbie's boyfriend. They meet at a dance, lock eyes, and it's love at first sight!
Ken's had numerous ventures throughout the years, with various careers, outfits, and appearances!

In early 2004 , the beloved couple officially broke up, albeit amicably, and remained on friendly terms with a purely platonic relationship. Seven years later, Ken attempted to win back Barbie's heart and succeeded, with the two reuniting on Valentine's Day ♥

Most recently, he's appeared in the live action Barbie movie, where Barbie lets Ken know that she doesn't reciprocate his feelings, and now he's currently on a journey to find who he is without her, or Beach, or anything that was previously defining him. Right now, he's just Ken! (And that's more than enough for me teeheeheeeee ^w^ ♥
